Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Organization is the key to optimized learning. In a small classroom with no cubby space we need a way to store our books and materials to stay on task and maximize learning. We currently have to pass out math books, reading books and other learning materials each time we need them.

My students come from a small rural school in Texas.

The school is over 80% low economic status. They are hard working Kindergarten students that have not been used to having things of their own or their own space. They need these seat sacks to be able to say "These learning things are mine!" and to maximize time spent on task. We do not have storage built into our classroom and shelving is limited. We spend an extraordinary amount of time on passing out materials. These seat sacks will make it much easier and less time consuming to get to materials. They will also help students take ownership and responsibility for their materials.

My Project

My students need 22 individual seat sacks to stay organized to optimize learning. The children I teach come from a low socio-economic status and need help to stay organized to learn. Seat sacks are an amazing tool to help keep the classroom organized and help students take ownership of their own materials. We will be able to get to our learning materials quickly and easily instead of getting up table by table and individually to gather our things from a shelf or basket. We will be able to minimize time to get on task by always having our things including crayons, pencils, and books in easy reach in a pocket attached to our chair. The students will in turn learn to take care and be responsible for their own belongings.

Help set the stage for learning by providing us with the organizational tools we need.

These seat sacks will keep our small classroom organized and give the students a sense of ownership of their materials and learning environment.
