Learning is HOT! Using Hot Dots Pens to Improve Math Skills
My students need a complete set of mathematics Hot Dots pens and quiz cards in order improve upon addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division concepts.
How many times have you seen a news report in the last decade showing the struggles that American students have with mathematics concepts? We are now as a nation ranked 27th in the world in regards to math concepts. Frankly, that's not good enough.
My students are from a very small, rural area.
We are a Title One school district in an area that focuses largely on agriculture. We have a wonderful, close knit community. Most of the families in our area strive to do a good job with their child's education, but many of the parents themselves did not go to college. My students need constant, hands-on practice in order to become competent at math skills.
My Project
I have requested a complete set of mathematics Hot Dots pens and quiz cards so my students can improve upon addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division concepts. These resources will be a great addition to my already in place guided math centers.
While I differentiate my instruction at my small group table, I plan to allow my students to work in pairs practicing math skills. I have a great variety of skills in my classroom, so these Hot Dots cards will be especially useful as they cover basic skills through advanced skills. My students will utilize them daily and hopefully reach mastery on addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication concepts.
Our country cannot afford to outsource any more jobs overseas.
We must start today strengthening the math and science skills that our students already have. We will use this resource in my classroom this year and many years to come in order to improve achievement and boost test scores.
