My Students

Please help give student reading comprehension a boost! I teach reading to second and third grade students in a high need, Title 1 school. I am a full inclusion reading specialist; therefore, I support the classroom teacher by working with small groups within the regular education classroom. My school is in need of materials that will bring excitement to learning comprehension skills for all reading abilities.

Comprehension is one of the hardest skills to teach and is considered boring to most students.

Students' minds often wonder when reading because the material is not interesting or exciting to them. The students will benefit by using these tools because they provide a hands-on way to learn, reinforce, and extend comprehension skills. With the materials requested, comprehension will be fun!

My Project

Data data data! What does the data tell me? The data shows me my students have very low reading comprehension skills and need hands-on materials that focus on comprehension skills. Although most of my students can read, they have a hard time taking what they read and retelling the information. Through practice obtained by having comprehension games, the overall comprehension skills of these students will increase.
