My Students

I have an awesome group of 6th graders from a variety of backgrounds in a diverse urban neighborhood. My students also have a wide range of abilities. Some students are behind in some areas and some are advanced in some areas.

All of my students are exceptional in their own way, and they deserve a first class education!

It is wonderful to get to know my students every year, and find out what makes them unique. Our journey is rewarding to all of us!

My Project

In order for students to learn they must have their basic needs met. Sometimes it is so hot in our room, we are so uncomfortable we can not get anything done. Many of my students become sleepy, or cranky. The temperature with the humidity often feels like it is close to 100 or more! I have had to send students to the nurse because they have symptoms of heat related illness. Also, common ailments like Asthma can be exacerbated by the heat. This all leads to lost learning!

An air conditioner will help bring the temperature down so that we can concentrate.

It is very important that students are comfortable so that we can struggle with the work, not our environment.
