"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." -Dr. Seuss. My students are eager to read and learn. Please help them "go" to new places with the use of reading and technology!
I teach a large kindergarten class made up of 20 eager and ready to learn 5 year olds in a high poverty area of South Carolina.
My students come from a low-income, rural area of South Carolina, but are very eager to learn new things. They attend a large elementary school that houses pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
My Project
By incorporating an iPad in the classroom my students will be given a powerful tool to explore the world at their fingertips. The number of programs and apps available to use on the iPad are numerous and will greatly empower my students to create, read, and write with letters, words and sentences. Students can see the connection between rhyming words, word families, and early phonics decoding. They will use the iPad to listen to stories, tell stories and create their own stories. All these endless apps and ideas will open a whole new world of literacy!
Early literacy, reading, and writing are crucial for students' academic and personal success.
With technology constantly changing, it is also important that we stay on the cutting edge of new ideas. This iPad will provide many possibilities to support and enhance our language arts curriculum. These resources will make a huge difference and help my kindergarten students learn and grow as early readers.
