Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When thinking about my students, my heart truly is full. I work at a school that has a very diverse population of students with about twenty percent of them being refugees. A majority of my students are English language learners and all of our students are on the free lunch program. Our school is our students' and families' safe place. This is my third year teaching and every single day, I wonder how I got so lucky to be able to work with these students and be surrounded by these families day in and day out.

There are many words that I could choose to describe my students, but out of all of them, the word that represents them best is resilient.

No matter what my students are going through in their lives, some of those things being quite unimaginable, they work through them while somehow continuing to work hard in the classroom.

I am proud to be a teacher, but most of all, I am proud to be their teacher.

My Project

With students & teachers heading back to in-person learning soon, it is important that I ensure the safety & continued quality education in a socially distanced environment.

The ability to give each student their own learning materials will create a healthy environment where each student will feel comfortable, confident & eager to learn.

If things change & students must return to learning remotely, they will be able to take their materials with them to continue using everyday. These supplies will allow students to engage in rigorous learning during reading, writing, and math!
