My Students
I want my students to be the best that they can at the end of the school year. I want them to love learning and know how to learn what they want to. I want them to not only be able to understand the core but be able to apply it in ways that appeal to them. I want them to be happy and enjoy school.
I teach a classroom full of gifted and talented second graders.
They come from various ethnic backgrounds and are especially good in at least one academic area. However this does not mean that everyone is good at every area. They love to delve into projects that interest them and want to do more than extra worksheets or the skill building games that I have for them.
My Project
My goal is to have a one to one ratio of technology to students in order for them to participate in a hands on, engaging classroom. This is essential for preparing students to be more competitive and successful in a 21st Century world dominated by technology.
One of the areas in which my students need extra support is being able to focus on whole group instruction.
Having an increased amount of technology will in turn increase student engagement and thus facilitate the learning process.
Some examples of learning opportunities with chromebooks include access to online manipulatives, programs, and a variety of other web based resources. Chromebook also allow for additional differentiation for the diverse learners in my gifted and talented classroom.
