This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach second grade bilingual students in an urban area and encourage them everyday to embrace their heritage. Since my students can speak Spanish and English their potential for success is already twofold than their English speaking classmates . All my bilingual students had a rough start adapting to the school culture and standards of American teaching. However, they made huge leaps of progress in a short amount of time. They never cease to amaze me inside the classroom or on our WebEx meeting calls. My scholars are the future doctors, philanthropists and community leaders.
My Project
The majority of my students do not have easy access to online learning or tools. Giving them headsets for their Chromebooks will give them the chance to be on par with other school districts in the state. At the same time, many colleges, careers or circumstances require people to be computer savvy.
In the case of another pandemic outbreak or whether it is to be prepared for the workforce, communities that are in need, like the one I instruct, are always behind in this country.
Its important that the teachers help these students break the cycle and give them a proper for foundation for future learning.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
