This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students struggle to engage with boring black and white worksheets. When they're able to create using colored words and images, they're excited to complete assignments and express themselves.
My students learn best when all of their senses are engaged.
Here are some things we do when we're able to make color prints in the classroom:
- Students illustrate their writing with color photos or scans of their own artwork. They also love to use colored text to add emphasis or expression to their written work.
- We print out photos of student activities for bulletin boards and to send home to parents.
- Students combine their own photos and drawings with images from the internet to make collages.
- Teachers create worksheets that guide students with disabilities by color-coding the steps of a process or highlighting important information with color.
- Including color images in projects like our class Black History timeline make them more fun to work on, and a more attractive addition to our classroom.
With your help, and a color laser printer, our students are going to be learning in full color. I can't wait to show you what they create!
