This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love color! Whether it is coloring in pictures on their writing pieces, or doing a Social Studies project. I want to be able to provide them with a colorful education.
My twelve second graders attend a 12:1:1 special education program in a title 1 funded school.
The disabilities affecting my students include learning disabilities, speech impairments, and autism. They struggle to keep up with the Common Core Curriculum and need a lot of support. As their teacher, it is my job to do everything possible to make the curriculum accessible to them.
My Project
My second graders spend a lot of time on writing stories and doing creative projects. Each month, we publish our final writing pieces that reflect the unit we have been working on. They are always so excited to use the classroom computer to type up their stories and then add pictures.
My students love being able to see their work in full color up on the bulletin board, and take home copies of their writing to show their parents. We only have access to a black and white printer in our classroom, so I print all the writing pieces at home. Most of my students do not have access to a computer or printer at home. I would love to be able to have the ability to let my students print in color at school. This printer would also allow us to make extra copies of worksheets or materials needed in our classroom.
These materials will enable us to print our writing pieces and other projects in full color.
Our learning experience will be even better. The students will be so thrilled to have access to a printer and copier right there in our classroom.
