Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
During these unprecedented times, teaching and learning have been such a difficult task. On the last day when we said goodbye it was supposed to be temporary, for a couple of days/weeks, but never did we imagine that we would never be in the same classroom again.
Most students come from a low socio-economic status where having materials is almost non-existent.
Most of my students have no privacy or room to focus because they live in a single unit (studio, room, one-bedroom) with multiple family members.
We try to make the best of it through our online zoom meeting and other online platforms. About less than 1/2 of my students show up, leaving the rest with gaps in their education. In order to accommodate all my students, and have online courses, pre-recorded videos, and chat with them by using ClassDojo. We can't wait for the day we can all be together again in our classroom.
My Project
Distance learning is something that teachers and students are not used to doing. Many students have found distance learning difficult because of technology issues and timeframes. Having at-home resources will meet the needs of all my students.
In order to ensure that all my students are practicing skills taught, students will be reading, working with math skills, and having growth mindset with grade-level daily tasks.
The 3 journals will engage them in review topics that I will be covering so that they can continue to grow as learners.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
