My Students

I am a special needs teacher for grades preschool, kindergarten and grade 1. My students struggle in reading, writing, and math. Some students are reading a year or more below their grade level. Many come to school without breakfast, clean clothes, or good hygiene. I am so thankful that our school provides free breakfast and free lunch every day and can give students coats, pants, shirts, etc. through Catie's Closet located in our school. We are also a PBIS school awarding students with academic awards for their social, emotional, and academic efforts, and they also earn cougar cash for good effort upon which they can buy prizes.

I want to create an interactive technology classroom and learning environment for my students.

I want to introduce my preschool, kindergarten, and first graders to a world of digital learning with the help of an interactive table, electronic whiteboards and touch screen computers.

My Project

My special needs students who are below grade level in reading, writing, and math will thrive with a 21st century interactive technology based classroom. My school district has limited resources in technology. My students will thrive in an environment that incorporates exciting opportunities for multi-sensory learning in areas they struggle deeply. Speakaboos Media Lab Edition Digital Interactive subscription, Flocabulary (12-month classroom subscription for one teacher, and BrainPOP subscription for ELL students will bring learning to a whole new level for my students who struggle every day in learning. By bringing interactive technology into our classroom, students will be more motivated, confident, and engaged in learning. Their experiences will be positive and will bring smiles to their faces!
