Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school has five hundred and twenty-seven students and is a Title I school!
My first graders are full of energy and are ready to learn!
My students are always eager to want to know and learn more! They ask many questions, they talk a lot, they are curious and so much more! We are discovering, learning manners, social skills, academics, and tons more!
Most of our students are English language learners and the majority of our students qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program.
My Project
Students come into kindergarten not knowing many letter names and sounds. The learning tubs and magnetic pictures will allow my students to touch the magnetic pictures and objects that begin with that letter and learn to sort and be able to identify that letters make different sounds.
Even though kindergarten is not required in this state, it is a very fundamental grade that builds all others because this is where they learn letter sounds and leave knowing how to read.
The students can use the tubs to sort items into the correct beginning sound. and learn that blends and digraphs make different sounds when they are together. They will also use the magnets to match beginning and ending sound picture cards to alphabet letters, and learn rhyming words.
