My Project
COVID 19 not only affected students’ learning, but also their mental health and social skills. The students I work with on a daily basis struggle with managing their emotions, which affects their classroom learning.
My students will use the resources requested to help learn and practice coping skills and regulating their emotions.
This will help them to be more successful and feel more confident in and out of the classroom.
The books will be able to be utilized to help teach the social and emotional skills in a fun and engaging way. There are books such as How to Teach Your Dragon Empathy and Kindness is My Jam that will help the students learn to be kind to others. Books like How to Tame My Anxiety Monster and My Body Sends a Signal that will help the students learn how to manage their emotions, While books like We’re All Wonders and I Am Human will help the students to build their self esteem and confidence. For the older students, these books can also be used to help practice reading skills.
The games will be able to be used to practice and review the skills learned in a fun way. The Self Esteem building game will help the students build their self esteem and confidence, the Emotional Rollercoaster game will help to be better at identifying their emotions and then the Mindful Game will help the students learn coping skills to help them manage their emotions. Fun positive daily activities such as A Year of Positive Thinking will help to get the students thinking positively and can be used to tie in all the skills learned.
