Learning History and Science Through Virtual Reality.
Help me give my students the opportunity to learn using an engaging VR experience in science, social studies, math, and language arts. By enabling all students the chance to experience VR learning, students will be naturally more engaged.
Picture a classroom where students enter eager to learn. At home, they develop 21st century skills by using technology to engage in their hopes and dreams. At school, while eager to learn, the students are missing the opportunity to learn in new and exciting ways with a current lack in technological experiences.
I have the fantastic opportunity to work with a large group of English language learners, as well as a large group of gifted students.
While the students come from various backgrounds and socio-economic situations, they all share the common philosophy that engaging education leads to success in their future lives. My students rarely are absent because their families understand the importance of education. They are sponges; they enjoy learning as much as they can, in a variety of ways, that will help them with their goals and endeavors.
My Project
All students want the opportunity to be engaged with learning. With science and social studies, the students will have the experience in a real-world experience by learning through Google Expeditions and other VR related resources. Using the Ipods will give the students the chance to pause experiences, take notes, and virtually step foot in the historical time period that they are studying. With science, students have the opportunity to see a tornado in virtual reality, to see the water cycle in a way that makes it seem real to them. The ipods will also serve students to make their own videos as an added resource.
