Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a kindergarten class with 24 students. They are bright eyed and full of energy. My students are excited to come to school and learn new things everyday. Our school is located in the south side of Los Angeles. We are a Title I school, where all of our students qualify for free lunch. My students welcome all and every single donation that we receive, and we need each and everything we can get. My students need materials to stay engaged and to have the right learning conditions to maximize engagement in the classroom.

My Project

My students came up with this project because they were tired of not being able to bring snacks that are healthy for them. They can't bring junk food like chips to school. So, they want to learn about the variation of healthy snacks that are out there for them. They are tired of being hungry and thirsty in the afternoon. My students are requesting healthy snacks such as, a variety of nuts, granola bars, dry fruits and healthy drinking options. They say they will have much more energy and will be more active with these snacks.

With this kid inspired projects, my students will learn about the different healthy options out there for them.

My students are eager to learn about a healthier lifestyle. With a nutritious "dry fruit tray" and the "healthy bar snack mix," my students tell me that they will be able to learn about consuming nutrient dense food. They say that with the "healthy Hula delights deluxe roasted nuts," they will have more energy in the afternoon and are collaborating to come up with activities they would like to do, to keep them active for 60 minutes every day. After their active 60 minute activity my students said they will love to be refreshed with healthy drinks such as "aquaball naturally flavored water".
