Help me give my students colorful pictures and stories like the Growth Mindset pack to use to learn about positive, healthy coping skills
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Powell's classroom raised $241

My Students
I am a School Social Worker in a Title I school in Baltimore City. As a member on the PIEL (Prevention & Intervention for early Learners) team, I support our youngest learners in developing healthy coping strategies to manage negative emotions. Many of our little ones come to school believing that arguing and fighting are the best ways to get their needs met. They struggle to understand that these strategies are dysfunctional in the school environment.
Effectively learning to manage strong, negative emotions helps our littlest learners begin their educational journey with positive skills that will be useful for the rest of their lives.
These resources will provide concrete examples through colorful stories and pictures of skills that the children can use to understand alternative, healthy coping strategies.
My Project
Many of our littlest learners come into school with a very limited skill set in managing negative feelings. Often, they want to argue or fight when they get upset. These resources will help the children learn through fun activities like stories and colorful pictures that there are safer, healthier ways to manage feeling angry, sad, or frustrated. The idea is to help the preK, K and first graders these skills so that as they move into older grades they have the ability to successfully handle the increasing challenges that will inevitably come their way.
Teaching children from an early age how to safely manage strong, negative emotions helps them to be better prepared to learn in the school environment.
