Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a group of 24 second graders who are very eager and excited to learn from their teacher and classmates! Just like many other kids, they enjoy school and most importantly feel safe in an environment where they sit together to learn, play, make friends, and share stories.
My students are learning to collaborate and develop oral language.
Most of my students participate in a free or reduced prize lunch program and are English Learners. My students are predominately hispanic and come from low-income families.
My Project
The use of a classroom rug will be a perfect gathering for my 24 students who enjoy a good read-aloud, meet-up morning circle time, and daily lessons in Math and Reading.
The rug will be a comfy place where my students can daily have their own spot to learn and engage with their classmates.
Even more, a new carpet is an important piece of furniture where they can carry out conversations to improve their oral skills. It will be the main center in our classroom where students enjoy reading to each other and engage in interactive learning with Math and Reading games.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
