The second semester is FULL of new and difficult learning opportunities. Students are ready more fluently, learning new skills and engaging in projects, writing, listening and speaking activities that will showcase their brilliance and creativity. This project will give students materials that will all them to show their learning in multiple ways.
All students have genius and in the early grades, they are super creative and having materials that allow them to freely create gives them many avenues to succeed in all academic content areas.
Many students come from low socio economic communities and speak languages other than English. All students need multiple ways to produce, engage, perform and succeed. Art makes success available to all students!!
The colored paper, crayons, markers, scissors, pens, laminator sheets, pencil boxes, and fabric markers will be used to allow students to engage in projects and activities both teacher directed and student chosen in order to showcase their creativity and genius. The lights and wave seats will allow students to create an ambiance to inspire both their moods and creative flow.
Fake dollars will teach students Financial Literacy through lessons in needs and wants. Students will learn how to earn "money" to buy time with the altered lighting, on flexible seating and to buy art supplies to take home to continue creating in their home environments. Students will earn dollars through meeting behavior expectations and through being proactive in choosing ways to engage in the life of the classroom.
