This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students at our school are amazing! They are excited about learning and the school environment fosters their desire to explore, experiment and take risks!
When you enter the building you can feel the sense of pride that everyone from the students, to the teachers, administration, staff, and volunteers has for this very special place.
We are in an especially inclusive neighborhood that appeals to many new immigrant families. Our school is diverse in all possible ways- from the languages spoken at home to the arts and culture that each family brings. We are so lucky to have this diversity as well as the varied learning styles our students have and as a barrier-free school, every child can thrive!
My Project
I am currently teaching a blended learning class. This means that I teach students when they are learning from home on days that they are not in school. I never get to be with my students face to face, we only meet through a screen. This requires a lot of creative uses of materials on my end. I work from my home 3 days a week and 2 days in the building.
I need a way to read books and model math strategies to my students.
This is why a document camera is needed. I currently have one that is not longer functioning due to it's age. I have had to rely on stacking items and propping up my cell phone in order to project images for my students. When in the school building the room I work from is right off of the playground. I love to listen to the kids play but this is very distracting to my students on the Zoom sessions, hence my need for the headset. I would like to tune out as much background noise as possible.
