This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a delightful group of transitional kindergarten students.
This means they are all four years old when they enter my classroom in the fall.
More than half of my students are second language learners. My students are eager to learn. They love to use hands-on materials and games to gain more knowledge.
My students love to learn through doing, not just by sitting and watching. Young students are active learners and I'd like to be able to supply them with the materials to best meet their needs while they learn from home during this unique COVID time.
My Project
Some of my students do not have learning materials in their homes. I am going to supply all of my students with engaging, colorful, and useful school items to be used in their homes since school will start only online this year. We will start the year doing Zoom meetings. I plan to use the manipulatives with the children to model how they can develop their fine motor skills with the provided items. We will also be able to use the materials for math and language arts lessons.
COVID is making for some very unique times right now.
I'd like to personalize some of their materials to help them feel special and appreciated by their teacher as we start off this school year.
