Teacher professional development. I need to attend 3 online seminars to improve my skills at differentiating for all learners and inspire my teaching.<profdevpilot>
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day I look at my students, and I marvel at the possibilities ahead of them. Then, I worry if I'll be able to help each of them reach those possibilities! My class has a wide range of achievement levels, from 3 years below to 3 years above grade level, and I need to find ways to meet all of my students' needs.
I have been teaching for 19 years from preschool to middle school.
Most of those years have been at the elementary level, and I am currently teaching 5th grade.
Over 90% of the students in our Title I school receive free or reduced price lunch and over 25% of them are English language learners. Our school strives to have a "no excuses" attitude when it comes to preparing our students for successful futures. We utilize technology throughout instruction and incorporate character education and college readiness in all we do.
I spend a lot of time reflecting on what has gone well in my classroom and what could have gone better. I am always seeking new learning to refine my practice and best meet the needs of my students. My students are destined for success, and I will do whatever it takes to prepare them for that!
My Project
I need to find ways to differentiate my instruction for my varied learners. I have heard of Daily 5 for years, and I read the book this past summer. Participating in these online seminars will provide me the information and confidence I need to implement effective small group instruction in my classroom. Having a subscription to the Daily Cafe website and the CAFE Conferring Pensieve digital conferring notebook will extend my learning and increase the impact of my instruction.
The books I'm requesting will provide me with ongoing professional development to improve my skills as a teacher as well as my students' experience in my classroom.
Donations to this project will provide me with access to professional development which I would otherwise not be able to afford.
It will improve my teaching long-term, impacting hundreds of students' instruction and learning.
