Help me give my students this portable microphone system so they can start their own in-school, small business.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Hawkins's classroom raised $220
This project is fully funded
My Students
My target students are in the 7th and 8th grades at a Title I school in the Delta with a very high population of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. They are incredibly bright and eager to learn. They love working on inquiry-driven projects that require them to work together and apply 21st-century skills. This project will allow students from varied economic backgrounds to work collaboratively with their teacher to prepare them for the workforce they will enter.
My Project
Students are always looking for ways to raise money or get a job. They think that money is the answer to all their problems.
Really what most students need is an understanding of effective money management.
This project will help students begin to see how they can effectively manage the money the do have.
There are always opportunities in class and in their school for students to lead groups, DJ at dances, lead student events, speak at assemblies, MC at festivals, and bark at fundraisers. For the student who likes to be in front of an audience, this grant will give them that opportunity to be a leader. They will develop their skills as a public speaker and fundraiser. Students will have a chance to use the grant equipment at events like the ones listed above. If any money is made or earned, they will need to know how to manage it.
So we will then use resources like Money Island and an online program called EverFi Vault, that provides valuable information and tools for effective money management and savings. After completing the lessons, we will be able to discuss them in class and come up with a plan for the money they might make. Earning real work economic experience in and out of the classroom.
More than half of students from low‑income households
