Learning, Exploration, and Discovery Through Technology

My students need iPads to bring different concepts to life and also teach them about collaboration and teamwork.

My Students

I work in a school district that has over 50 different languages. Eighty-two percent of our students receive free/reduced lunch. They are eager to learn and display an enormous love for being at school. For some, this is their first experience of being in school. Most of my students come from an immigrant or refugee family.

As their teacher, I want to provide a classroom environment that makes learning engaging and exciting for them so they can continue to enjoy and be successful at school.

It is my hope that they carry this love of learning throughout their education.

My Project

I believe giving my students access to iPads in class is one of the best thing I can do for them. This is the way of the future and for most of my students their family cannot provide such luxury. There is so much I can do through this form of technology. My hopes and dreams are that utilizing iPads can help expose my students to many content areas and in a variety of interesting format.

When I imagine my students having access to iPads, I get excited because I know this technology will help them be intrigued and motivated when it comes to their learning.

I am also enthusiastic to observe how having only three iPads may help foster a community of students who learn and come to value cooperation and teamwork, important skills to have throughout life. I also picture the iPads as a way for my students to be creative because of the the different apps we can tap into.

I have much to learn as the facilitator but I am willing to learn as much as I can to make the most of the iPads in the classroom. I know my passion for this opportunity will only be passed to my 2nd graders.
