This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine walking into classroom and observe students working independently, rigorously/diligently, and using authentic conversation to explain their comprehension of the reading/writing lesson that was taught. This is my goal for the 2014-2015 school year for my students.
My sixth grade students attend a public school that is located in one of the poorest congressional district in New York.
Approximately 98% of of them receive free lunches. Most of them come to school without supplies, and teachers have to supplement what these students need from out of pocket. It is difficult for them to bring classroom supplies, let alone help for the extra things we need in class.
My Project
These resources will help to enhance learning in class. Students will use the staples and staplers to staple their written projects which will keep their work neat and organized in their portfolios as well as the bulletin boards that will showcase their hard work. The cart will be used as a mobile station to collect my students' completed work, homework, quizzes/tests, incomplete assignments, and so forth. Laminating any materials in class helps to maintain their longevity. I love to laminate white paper and filler paper because I use them to create my own whiteboards for one on one, small group work, and whole class instruction.
This project is important because we cannot afford these supplies due to budget cuts.
I need help my students by supplementing these school supplies to provide necessary support so they will be successful learners. These supplies for my classroom will enhance the learning of all students.
