This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are resilient, hardworking, and full of potential.
I teach Spanish 1 and AP Spanish Language to high school students in Boyle Heights, California—many of whom are first-generation, low-income, and of Hispanic heritage.
Despite the challenges they face, they show up every day eager to learn and express themselves. They are developing their voices in Spanish through essays, reflections, and creative projects, and they deserve to see their work celebrated and taken seriously.
My goal is to provide a color printer that brings their efforts to life. With this tool, students will be able to print essays, create vibrant posters, and design culturally rich presentations that deepen their understanding of language and identity. A printed copy of their work gives them a sense of pride and permanence. This project will not only enhance their academic experience but also validate their ideas, backgrounds, and aspirations. With your support, my students can see themselves not just as learners—but as authors, artists, and future leaders.
