Our early education program focuses on a creative learning environment based in play. Through play we are able to access themes like empathy, diversity, understanding care, and much more. The problem our students want to address in their diverse community is the lack of deeper understanding in the people that live there. First they will raise their own awareness of different people who live in their community and will practice advocating for those who need it by using their words to communicate for the betterment of their neighborhood.
The supplies I’ve requested lend a hand in this learning.
We can learn about caring for the environment through gardening. We will explore different careers with the tool box, doctor’s kit, cash register, cooking pots, and driving dashboard. We will examine the wooden magnet people to mix and match different familiar and unfamiliar people. We will even learn about regulating our emotions and using our words to advocate for ourselves and others through the Big Green Monster book and felt glove. Finally, we will use our new found words to write letters through the mailbox to service people in our community to express kindness and gratitude.
