Help me give my students social emotional and diversity posters along with the Pete the Cat books to build empathy, understanding, and acceptance among peers.
My students are English Language Learners who attend a suburban elementary school in Washington. They come from various cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds, many of them receive free or reduced-price lunch, and many parents struggle to provide basic necessities for their kids.
My students might speak different languages at home, but share a love of learning at school.
They want to be successful and strive to do their best. My mission is to help them achieve their goals with the resources and support they need.
My Project
These resources will be used to teach my students social and oral language skills. Students benefit from having visual support to have rich discussions about their feelings and emotions. Pete the Cat books are very popular among our young language learners for its self esteem boosting messages and easy readability.
These posters and books will help guide us through important topics such as acceptance, understanding, and empathy.
Using these resources will also help my English Language Learners boost their language proficiency.
With these foundational social, emotional, academic and language skills, my students will be successful in school and for the rest of their lives.
