This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 12 amazing students who have a hard time understanding other perspective. We will be using different materials to help teach my students learn about compassion like Books that teach kindness, empathy and feelings and social stories with picture. My students are visual learners so books are a great way to introduce new topic. We use puppets to model compassion behavior as well as music and dance actives prompt diversity. As well as creating journals with our binding machine, to write daily about how we showed compassion to our peers.

Books helps build empathy, kindness and compassion by sharing stories and seeing other peoples perspective.

My students will learn to see the world through the eyes of another person to develop compassion. It important to understand other people perspective. Will so an activity where my students will put themselves in other people’s shoes and see the world through their point of view. For example, we will role play scenario to demonstrated how to empathize with other and understand their feelings. They will connect their feeling with a color for the books. I will teach my students about compassion by identifying the needs of those area them. My student will learn to organize a food drive by collect cans good for underprivileged families in our neighborhood. To measure the success, I will observe how my student show compassion in their daily activities, praise and keep track of their actions. We will write daily journals where the students will draw and write a sentence on how they show compassion in their daily life.
