My students come from a neighborhood of severe poverty and hardship. They come to school with a smile every day in spite of some of the hardships they are facing at home and are ready to learn and engage in activities.
My school is special for sure.
While we deal with some intense emotional and behavioral issues, we have so many moments of happiness and laughter with these students that I hope are making a difference in their lives. Our staff is one of a kind. Our teachers work so hard to get through to these kids and do whatever it takes to help them come closer to success.
I want my students to have the same opportunities as all children and while a lot of my kids have not been read to much in their first years, this listening center can provide them with read aloud while I work intensely with small groups of students on developing fundamental literacy skills.
My Project
Instant learning centers are an extremely enriching and easy activity to use for literacy centers. Instant learning centers are also hands on, engaging, and most of all fun for the students. When students enjoy what they are doing they stay engaged and get much more out of the activity which will help them build the skills intended. My students will use these centers to build their knowledge of letter sounds, building words, and beginning to read sight words needed to become excellent readers. Reading instant learning centers will make an excellent addition to our center activities and keep the students happy and engaged in learning!
