This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Learning to read is challenging. My students need different fun ways to learn the skills necessary to become a great lifelong reader.
My students are in first grade in a NYC public school located in the south Bronx.
The majority of the students in our school are living well below poverty level. They love being in school and truly enjoy learning. They are excited to be learning new things, especially learning to read.
My Project
The materials I'm requesting for my students will help reinforce all the skills I am teaching in a fun and exciting way. The students will practice the skills that have been taught independently and in a fun, enjoyable way. The construction paper will be used for classroom activities. During lunch, I take the children outside to recess. The chalk will give the children something to do outside, instead of just run around on the concrete.
This project will help my students become excellent lifelong readers.
They will be able to practice the new skills they will be learning throughout the year in a different and exciting way. Please help me give my students the best that I can give them!
