This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade students are amazing! That sentence probably sounds pretty silly because every teacher thinks their students are amazing but in my case it's true! Most of them come from broken homes, parents that work too much, poverty or other hardships that you would think should put them in a bad mood everyday. From the second my students enter my room I make sure they forget about everything going on at home and focus on being happy children!

Not being able to give my students one last hug before schools closed broke my heart and I know it broke their's as well.

Many of my students were able to check out chromebooks for the remainder of the year to continue their learning but soon they will have to return them for summer. This will leave many students with no learning materials all summer.

My Project

There is a pandemic going on in the US right now & it is hitting everyone hard, especially kids that don't understand what's happening & just want to come to school & see their friends.

My students LOVE being in my class everyday!

From the handshakes & breakfast we eat together in the morning, to the times during the day where they get to interact with the class pet, to all the partner sharing they get to do throughout the day & finally to the high fives I give them while simultaneously waving to their parents we have good days everyday! Yes, many students were able to check out chromebooks so they can keep learning with the lesson plans I post every week with fun videos, interacting websites & photos of myself & the class pet but it's not the same and everyone feels it.

In a couple weeks these students will now have to return their chromebooks & in many houses there will be no learning for the next 2 1/2 months or whenever we are able to return. I do not want this to happen for my kids so I would love to send them care packages not only filled with my love but supplies that will keep them learning and creative! My care package will include a handwritten personalized note (which I write to my students often), writing supplies, art supplies, a nonfiction book (just a little about their level so they can get ready for 4th grade), & a little snack (because I know what kids really like). It is sad for me to think of everything my students missed because of the pandemic but I know when they get a personalized package from me it will brighten their spirits more than I can imagine.
