My Students

We are a Title I school with our students qualifying for free breakfast and lunch. Our parents work hard to provide for their children, but sometimes need some extra help from the school to get the needed resources. It can truly be a jungle out there. We as teachers continue to look for materials that help our students get the most out of their time with us.

My students come to school excited about learning each and every day.

They are willing to try their best and want to learn new things. I want to explore different ways to engage them in both math and literacy. When they see something new they are so excited about getting to use it both with me in a small group or on their own.

My Project

I have noticed the newest craze of "pop its" this year and it feels like a great way to engage my students in learning. I want to explore using them in literacy - identification of letters and their sounds. I think the bracelets would be a great new way for students to practice tapping out the sounds in words. How many sounds do you hear - helping me to see where they might have gaps.

The ones with numbers are a great way to practice number identification for my lowest learners.

They can also be used for finding 1 more, 1 less, 10 more & 10 less for my students who are closer to grade level. I don't want to ignore my high flyers either and hope to use them for adding 2-digit numbers.

With your help, I can provide a "new and exciting" way for students to practice these basic skills that are so essential for learning.
