This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-year teacher at a low income/high poverty school. I teach 2nd grade. As heartbreaking as it is, most of my students are faced with many challenges in and out of the classroom.
All of my students deserve to be healthy and happy.
Though I cannot control what happens outside of the classroom, I can certainly control what happens inside. My students come to class feeling loved, supported, and engaged. I have a wide range of students in my classroom. Some students are highly intelligent and some have developmental delays. This does not stop me from providing them the education that they need.
I love all of my students and they each bring joy to my life as a teacher.
I look forward to building a positive classroom during my first year of teaching.
My Project
This field trip will allow all of the second grade to experience the Phoenix Zoo. Our second-grade students love to learn about plants and animals.
What better way to learn than with a hands-on field trip to the Zoo.
The students will get to learn about and see many awesome zoo animals, as well as explore a collection of native Arizona plants.
Once we have visited the zoo the students in our classes will have a better understanding of plants and animals in the real world!
This field trip will allow our students to experience zoo life firsthand! Also, this field trip will allow our students to have memories of second grade and the real-life experience of visiting a zoo!
