Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Brentwood, CA. My district will be returning to school at the end of this month 100% online.

My fourth grade team cannot wait to get to know our new students, even if it is through a computer screen.

Although it will be a strange start to the school year, we are confident that this group of fourth graders can achieve high expectations and we will overcome these unprecedented challenges together.

My Project

If this project is funded I, along with the two other fourth grade teachers on my team, will be able to create a care package of school supplies for every fourth grade student at our school. These students may not have all of the necessary school supplies at home that they need to be prepared to engage in distance learning.

The top priority of our fourth grade team is to start this year strong and ensure that each of our students feels supported, cared for, and set up for success right from the start.

Included in the care packages are folders that will help them keep their paper assignments organized and notebooks that will provide space where they can write and complete grammar assignments. The pencil pouches will allow them to keep school supplies, such as colored pencils, highlighters, and erasers organized. The whiteboards are important tools they can use to practice math and participate in online collaborative meetings. If our students feel prepared, they will be ready to begin this extraordinary school year on a strong note and on "even footing" with all of their peers.
