Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching 24 transitional kindergarteners in a public school with the majority of students coming from low-income households in a very diverse community. At this time, we will be teaching online for multiple hours of live instruction each day in whole group and small groups.
Most of my students coming into my class have this being their first educational experience.
It is important for me to give my young learners a differentiated, engaging, and exciting learning experience each day. My goal is not only to teach my students academics, social and life skills, but also a love for school and learning.
Having manipulatives, games, and materials that will promote literacy, writing, and math skills and they will allow me to give each individual student a fun and hands-on experience.
My Project
My students will start off the year with distance learning, however all materials purchased will benefit my students at home and when we return to the classroom!
Teaching from home can be challenging, but with materials such as an easel and bookshelf will help!
This is something to be used at home and then brought into the classroom. It will be a good transition for having a similar routine for whenever we return to school.
My students will begin each day with "Calendar Time." There are a variety of skills we touch on within this time such as days of the week, months of the year, patterns, number recognition, counting, weather, letters and sounds, seasons, and so much more! Having a full calendar set will help my students visually see and practice all these concepts!
