This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are 21st century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 25 curious fourth grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children. They have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
My Project
Covid-19 has changed the teaching landscape. Gone, for now are cooperative groups, small group projects and sharing materials. All students must have their own materials and their own individual desks. That is where this project comes in!
Even tho we must socially distance, we will still learn!
Last year my classroom consisted of all round tables, perfect for small group collaboration. While we are beginning the school year remotely, hybrid models will be phased in when it is safe. I need to change my classroom environment for the safety of my students. I am requesting these individual desks so they can complete their assignments when they do come back to the building and continue to learn.
