This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a very low socioeconomic environment in which most of them receive free lunch in our district. These children come from all types of backgrounds, and many are children that have migrated to the United States. Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now thrust into a formal school setting. We move from learning letters to reading very quickly. We help students learn English while holding onto and becoming literate in their own language as well.
My students have not only been affected by their low socioeconomic condition, but they also live in the second highest state most affected by the coronavirus in the nation.
We are continuously looking for innovative approaches to teaching and learning to help our most underprivileged students. A creative use of technology can make a difference in their lives.
My Project
This computer will have many applications impacting teaching and learning. The use of such powerful computer can help ease the demanding workflow for streaming, virtual instruction, recording, downloading, uploading, simultaneous work, etc. which impact delivery of teaching and learning.
We have relied on technology to deliver instruction more than we have ever before prior to the pandemic, and we want to ensure that we are continuously prepared to transition to a possible hybrid teaching and learning in the future.
As educators we have learned a new digital workflow, and this computer is meant to be our main hub for digital work (streaming, recording, video and photo editing, planning, communication, etc.)
