My Students

I have an amazing group of high energy kindergarten students. I have 10 boys and 10 girls in rural Northern Nevada. I have a high percentage of EL learners, as well as, special education students. Most have not had the opportunity for pre-kindergarten and love being able to learn and explore but struggle with their fine motor skills and transition from home to kindergarten.

My Project

Play is one of the main ways in which children learn and develop. It helps to build self worth by giving a child a sense of his or her own abilities and to feel good about themselves. It helps develop social skills (which many young children are lacking due to Covid quarantines) and problem solving.

Play also gives students the opportunity to learn how to work together and build life long skills that they will carry on with them through life.

These building and STEM items will help fulfill many standards throughout the kindergarten curriculum. Some standards that they will help with are as follows: L.K.2.D, SL.K.6, and K.CC.A.1.
