Learning and Growing Together Through Diverse Social Emotional Books
Help me give my students diverse books that will address social emotional learning strategies for tackling challenges and building community. Some of my favorites include "Seeds of Change: Planting a Path to Peace" and "Just Like Me"!
Our district is committed to equity for every student learner, in our academic instruction and social emotional learning. As part of this initiative we are working to ensure equity in our social emotional supports by diversifying our Social Emotional Learning library.
The texts we have chosen will help us model and explore strategies for tackling challenges and building community in our school.
Both fiction and nonfiction titles feature protagonists from diverse backgrounds and are written by award-winning authors and illustrators.
Themes covered include empathy, building positive relationships, recognizing and managing emotions, problem-solving, perseverance, and perspective-taking.
