This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The holidays will be here soon!

The materials in this project are for special lessons that will happen during three special holidays.

The clay activity sets in this project have animals. The plastic animals are skeletons and skeletons are perfect during Halloween. Students add the clay to make them into animals. Once the clay hardens, students paint the animals. This activity set will let me lead interesting lessons in October related to ecology. I can’t wait to see my students working on their animal and transforming it from a skeleton to a colorful animal!

Christmas is a fun time. I will lead a lesson about the Northern Lights. We will end the lesson with a project where students make their own Northern Light Sensory Light using clear plastic bottles that I already have and the colorful Fairy Lights in this project. The AA batteries in this project will power the fairy lights. We will have a class party when we finish the unit and students will wear the light-up jewelry. Our school uses Positive Behavior Incentive Rewards to encourage students to be active participants in their learning. Being rewarded with fun PBIS rewards that students like help my students stay engaged during class lessons.

Mother’s Day is in May and it’s a very special day. In May, I will do a lesson about ecology and my students will make colorful tissue paper flowers with the tissue paper in this project. Some of the flowers students make will stay in class for a visual art display related to our ecology lesson. Students will also make a paper flower to take home so that they can give that colorful flower to their mom. Thank you for supporting my student's interest in learning about ecology and science while celebrating the holidays.
