My Students

My students are high schoolers in Boston grades 10 through 12. In my elective class, Research and Activism for Change this includes newcomers to the US, English Learners and students with disabilities. They are impressive young people who are reflective, committed to justice, and supportive and collaborative classmates for each other.

In Research and Activism for Change my students are researching a social justice issue that impacts their life and taking action on it!

I have so far been so impressed with how they reflect deeply on issues that impact them and their community, but also supporting each other as a community of young people. As these strong young people take on new challenges, please help me create a space for them that is enjoyable and comforting.

My Project

Exploring the world around us and planning activism can be challenging and personal work! Help me create and sustain a welcoming space for incredible student-activists!

Our school adjoins a beautiful and historic park, and the flexible seating will allow us to go outside for discussions and planning to prepare for activism!

We can bring the puzzle mats outside to sit and work in groups on our projects or have discussions in the park. The snacks will help me make sure students are fed and comfortable, so these incredible young people feel welcome and ready to learn and engage in this work! Finally, the stirrers and sleeves will replenish my tea station, which was generously funded by donors like you a few years ago and continues to be a small way students feel welcome and comfortable in our space.
