My students need 10 copies each of 5 books to learn about the United States and our state!

My Students

My students don't know what about states, capital cities, and countries! They need to understand the country in which they live in order to become responsible and literate citizens.

My students are highly diverse both racially and ethnically.

They live in a high poverty area of Washington State. When I asked them the other day about the capital of Washington, they said, "Seattle." Oh, dear! I have some teaching to do, but not without great materials.

My Project

The resources are both fiction and non-fiction. First, books about the United States. Kids need to know about the history and geography of our country. Also, a great book about Washington State, our home! Last but not lease, two great fiction books about the states. These books are hilarious and packed full of facts about each state (in a really fun way).

My students need to know about their country and state!

They need to understand basic facts about the history of our country and state. My students need great materials to motivate their learning. These books would be awesome!
