This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are second graders from a high poverty school. My students are very inquisitive and love science, math, reading and hands-on and fast-paced projects; however, funds are limited.
I want to give the 2nd grade students at my school access to iPads to help them become more savvy with financial literacy.
Students will use the iPad along with Osmo Pizza Co., which allows them to practice their money skills in a highly engaging way while earning rewards along the way.
My Project
My students will use an iPad along with Osmo Pizza Co. to learn about financial literacy in a highly engaging method. Each student is given their own virtual pizza shop that they use to make money. They have play pizzas that they make for their virtual customers, who they get paid from and have to give change back to.
The students find using Osmo Pizza Co with an iPad to be very motivating and engaging!
They love that they get to work with "customers" and get feedback on how they are doing. They love to pay their rent, and buy the supplies needed to make their pizza
