Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In this classroom we are building a community, we are the Northeast of El Paso. The Northeast has a community like no other. We are learning and building a new culture for our community and school, one that will make the Northeast shine!
I want to give my students the opportunity to be a part of making our community shine brighter.
I teach Social Studies, and the majority of my students are low income, so seeing new places and hearing new things is a great motivation for them interested in school and learning. People often give our side of town a bad reputation and I want to show my students that this label is not them and it does not define them. You can help me!
My Project
Many young adults do not know about resources that are available for the community after they graduate from high school. With this project, I am hoping to help change that just enough so that they know how to search for support for themselves, their families or friends in the future.
These Parenting Simulators will help them feel the urgency that some families feel when they are in need.
Whenever we come back to classes in person, I will have activities that require them to know what kind of resources our community offers to people in need, including those with babies like these simulators. By knowing about these resources they will also better understand how the government helps support the community and its needs. This will also help them better understand how important their vote and community involvement is so that people can get what they need.
