Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Grow our Art Room Library! Reading stories as a class helps to capture children's imaginations and attention. Sadly, our current art room library is tiny and contains only a few well-loved, yet falling-apart books. Help us turn it around with an infusion of new books and DVDs
My students are full of energy and creativity.
They attend an overcrowded school where over 90% of the students receive free lunch. Most of my students are bilingual and benefit from any additional reading they can get.
My classes range from first grade to eighth grade. I see about 900 students a week, in a school of 2000 students.
My Project
I am requesting 16 children's art books to be used in art lessons and also to be available for students to read on their own. I'm also requesting five DVDs from the series Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists. This is the best DVD series I've ever seen for teaching young students. I showed one last year, and the students fell in love with it.
What better way to learn about an artist or art topic then through a story in an illustrated book or an animated DVD?
This project would benefit my many students now, and in the future by bringing art to life.
