Learning A New Language Can Be Fun!

My students need headphones and English Language Learning games to help them acquire the English language.

My Students

Have you ever traveled to a foreign country? Did they speak a language you were unfamiliar with? Did it leave you with a sense of anxiety or confusion? This is a daily battle for the students in my class who are trying to learn the English language.

We are a third grade class in Charlotte, NC made up of 21 English Language Learners.

I have a range of languages spoken in my classroom ranging from German to Cambodian. Majority of my students however speak Spanish as their primary language. Our school is a Title 1 school with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch daily.

My Project

I do not speak Spanish, German, or Cambodian, therefore teaching my students the English language becomes more difficult. I am not able to easily translate things for them without looking them up. We have many programs at our school available for our English Language learners and many of them are on computers or iPads. I am requesting headphones so that when we are using these programs each day, my students are able to focus on what is being taught without having to hear 20 other iPads saying different things. I am requesting the English Learner games because my students need to expand their vocabulary and to better understand the common principals of the English language. These games would allow my students opportunities to learn the language in a fun, interactive way.
