Learn to Write the Right Way!

My Students

My students are some of the most amazing kids out there. Our school is in the middle of military housing.

All of my students are military dependents.

They spend their days seeing a parent off to work in that military uniform knowing they are fighting for our country. Many of them see that parent off knowing they won't see them for 6 to 9 months and in some cases even up to a year.

They don't complain. This is their life. And it is an important one. I work every day with some of the most amazing children who come to class each and every day eager to learn and share their experiences with me.

My Project

The use of whiteboards is a daily practice in our classroom for interactive writing. The students come to the carpet with their whiteboard, marker and eraser and they get ready to write. Whiteboards are a great tool for them to practice their letter formation as well as sound spelling words. The problem is our current white boards are stained or the laminate is peeling off. My students still use them, but I can tell they would love ones that aren't falling apart.

They know they don't write like we see in books. So they are apprehensive to try it out. With dry erase boards, it doesn't matter! If they need to do something over, it is easy to erase and try again.

And then after all of that hard work, they can turn that board over and get in some free drawing time. Let those creative juices flow!
