My Students

The section of the city where I teach in is a very low-economic area with minimal family involvement. Many have limited resources. However, they make up for that with their personalities and eagerness.

Many of my students come into school without previous education, minimal basic skills, and minimal supplies, but are eager and willing to work hard to learn all they can.

In order for my students to succeed and thrive, we need to have a safe and inviting environment. In order to do this, we need snacks for energy, centers that are exciting, and new, basic everyday materials that are readily available for the classroom and for home.

My Project

School started this year, but not in the usual fashion! We started the school year virtually and teaching kindergarten virtually I cannot teach the way I would if we were in the building! I cannot place my hand on top of theirs when they try to write a letter or number, I cannot pull small groups to help them practice their fine motor skills and the most challenging aspect of this year is I cannot help them learn to write their name!

I started to make virtual learning packets and have been dropping them off at their houses, for each student because I have noticed that trying to teach writing, virtually, is near impossible and most frustrating for me and my students!

These packets have made the world of difference! They have letter tracing pages, number tracing pages, ten frames for math, name writing sheets etc. and all of these have helped my students when I physically cannot!

I need this ink to print off more manipulatives and practice worksheets so students have a way to learn since I cannot be there to help them. Please help me, help them!
