My Project
My students come from all different types of backgrounds, almost all deal with or have dealt with extreme trauma. They often struggle with how to deal with those feelings and anxiety. I have found that reading, and drawing helps to calm them and helps them express themselves and calm their thoughts. These things are not used a something fun to do in my classroom (although they love them) they are there to help them get past feelings they are struggling with so they are able to focus on their core classes. I have been working on building my classroom library so the students can find books they can connect to and provide them with drawing and coloring items that inspire them.
